Anyone that has ever taken the 505 Queen streetcar east to Leslieville has passed and probably noticed 1015 Queen St E., a distinctively small Toronto Jewellery store on the south side just past Carlaw.
The cute little stand-alone shop seems altogether too close to the sidewalk, while its neighbours are well back from the street.
The store has a complicated history that reflects the local economy of Leslieville, now cresting again in prosperity – this little shop has sold fine art paintings, antiques and furniture, and now has two custom engagement ring jewellers under the name On The Other Hand Jewellery in Leslieville.
Karen MacRae and Sabrina Melendez work here.
Karen MacRae graduated from George Brown’s Canadian Jewellery Design program in 2003, and has since established herself as a top designer in Canada.
OTOH was been born from years of creating stunning custom pieces and fashion jewellery collections for various galleries across Canada.
Late in 2016 Karen teamed up with Sabrina Melendez, a Master Goldsmith who graduated from Écoles des Arts Appliqués de Genève Tech in 2009.
Together the two are a formidable team. Karen and Sabrina excel at understanding and creatively exceeding the client’s expectations
Toronto Jewellery Store On The Other Hand at 1015 Queen St E will surely add even more shine to the Leslieville neighbourhood.
